PATOLIS-e Gateway Service

As announced in May 2006, PATOLIS-e in its present form will be closed at the end of September 2006, meaning that the existing PATOLIS-e ids will no longer give access to the service after this date. However PATOLIS-e will remain available for legal status and bibliographic information through Questel via a gateway (named the PATOLIS-e Gateway Service) which will be released on October 1st, 2006.

Free Trial: The new PATOLIS-e Gateway Service will be available for a free trial period for all Questel ids. The trial starts Monday, Sept. 25th and ends the 30th.
The P803 format will not be available during the free trial but will be available on Oct. 1st. The P807 format for legal status and viability information will be available.

PATOLIS-e Gateway Service

To access the PATOLIS-e Gateway Service via Questel on October 1st, you either have to be an existing Questel customer (this does not apply to QPAT customers) or apply for a new Single user agreement. This is explained in detail in the Agreement and Pricing section.

The new PATOLIS-e gateway will only allow searches via patent number, application number or any other document number, and will include two display formats: P803, for bibliographic, images and legal status information, and P807, for basic bibliographic, legal status and viability information. As with the existing service this includes both patents and utility models, however machine translation features will not be available.

Agreement and pricing will differ from the existing PATOLIS-e model and is as follows:

If you are an existing Questel customer, again this does not apply to QPAT customers, you will have two models to choose from:

1. Pay-as-you-Go using your existing Questel ID. You will pay a higher per-record fee but do not have to apply directly for the PATOLIS-e service.
2. Corporate Access account based on a yearly fee and a lower per-record fee than pay-as-you-go. This plan gives you access to PATOLIS-e via all your existing Questel IDs.

Questel customers may also choose the Single User plan (please see details below), if only direct access to PATOLIS-e is necessary. However in the next stage of the PATOLIS-e linking project, available beginning of 2007, you will be able to link to PATOLIS-e records directly from records displayed within Qweb.

If you are not an existing Questel customer but are a PATOLIS-e customer, you can either apply for the Questel service contract and use one of the above plans, or sign a Single User plan.
Single User plan includes an annual fee and a per record display fee. This only allows access to PATOLIS-e and not to any other Questel service. A signed agreement is required to access PATOLIS-e.

Important: If you are not currently a Questel customer and if you do not sign a Single user plan, you will not have direct access to PATOLIS-e on October 1st.

Pricing

The new pricing includes a per-record charge plus an optional yearly fee. Please note that there are no monthly or search fees.

To apply for the PATOLIS-e Gateway Service Corporate Access Plan, please fill out the Amendment to service contract depending on your region: US or EU.

To apply for the Single User plan, please fill out the PATOLIS-e Gateway Service Single User agreement depending on your region: US or EU.
